Two inch high, bold letters across the top of the paper read WHITLAM SACKED. When the trolley was full, a Trolley Boy would whisk it away to the truck platforms for wrapping with string, and then onto the trucks for distribution. Each pile of twenty was then taken to a trolley parked at the end of the table and stacked. We would take twenty of each at a time, headlines in front, classifieds to the right, a quick slide of the left thumb, opening the headline section, drag the classifieds into the middle with the right and stack to the left. Stacks of each section of the paper, fresh off the presses were maintained under the tables by the Trolley Boys. Big timber tables, 8 men each, 4 per side. The lowest and most common was as an "Inserter". There were several positions available to the casual workers.
